MJ Hughes constructed a new channel for the Little Hoquiam River then removed the existing dam and re-directed waters into the newly constructed channel. The cofferdam method utilized by MJ Hughes for this project involved a water bladder temporary dam in conjunction with a bentonite slurry wall. The active river channel was diverted through a 60 inch HDPE diversion pipe which MJ Hughes installed and welded in house.
Environmental concerns were of paramount concern to all stakeholders and MJ Hughes exceeded the expectation in this and other regards.
