SR 142 Bowman Creek Culvert Replacement

This project replaced a structurally deficient concrete box culvert with a new cast in place bridge. The biggest challenge overcome by MJ Hughes on this project was the timeline with only 60 working days to complete the entire project. Schedule however was not the only challenge, other challenges included constructing the bridge with the geometrically complex design issued by Washington State Department of Transportation, the management of subsurface water that infiltrated the worksite. One final unique feature to this project is the absence of precast or steel girders, for this bridge the bridge slab itself is the structural member that makes the span work.
